Swine Flu in Virginia ...

Swine Flu in Virginia ...

Confirmed cases in Richmond area.

RICHMOND-- -- The swine flu hits Virginia.

The Commonwealth can now be added to the list of states with confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus.

A man and a woman from Virginia contracted the flu from recent trips to Mexico.
Gov. Tim Kaine said the pair has recovered from the illness, which was mild.

"Both had mild illnesses that essentially would be the equivalent of seasonal flu. But because of all the new surrounding H1N1 they did contact healthcare providers and after testing it was determined that they did have H1N1. Neither required hospitalization. Both have essentially recovered and are back to normal," Kaine said.

Virginia is the 12th state to have swine flu cases confirmed by the CDC and brought the total to 111 cases nationally.

Officials in eight states have confirmed an additional 19 cases.
In West Virginia, officials are investigating a possible case in Ohio County, in the northern panhandle.
